Baptisms (also known as Christenings)

Baptism is a very special event in the church, where you are welcomed into the family of God. You can be baptised at any age, as an infant for an adult.

Infant baptism/christenings:

We believe that children are special, a precious gift from God, and we hope that baptism will prove to be the start of an amazing journey of faith. Parents and guardians who bring children to be christened don't need to be baptised themselves, but godparents should be baptised. Both parents/guardians and godparents are asked to commit to sharing that special journey of faith with them. Parents/guardians and Godparents are asked to;

- commit to pray for the child to be baptised,

- to help them learn more about Jesus and the Christian faith

- to help them navigate their way through life against a backdrop of faith, hope, and love,

- and help them become part of the wider church family.

Adult Baptism:

For those who come to faith as an adult, or wish their children to make a personal decision of faith, baptism as an adult or older child is equally precious. Jesus himself was baptised in the River Jordan, and many adults who are christened/baptised do so as an opportunity to follow in his footsteps and publicly declare their Christian faith.

For more information about the meaning of baptism please talk to any member of Clergy in church or take a look at the Church in Wales websiteIf you would like to arrange a Baptism Service, or a service of Thanksgiving for a Child, please get in touch with a member of clergy. Services in Tredegar Park Ministry Area typically take place at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, it is also possible for a Baptism to take place during your usual Sunday service.

To book your baptism please submit a baptism enquiry form.

Weddings and Blessings

Tredegar Park seeks to be an inclusive group of churches and clergy would love to make your day as special as possible. Whether you'd like to get married in one of our churches, have a service of blessing after a civil ceremony, or would like to reaffirm your wedding vows after years of marriage, we would love to support you. Please get in touch to discuss your needs.

You can either submit an initial enquiry using our wedding enquiry form or call into church to have an informal chat with a member of clergy after a service. Alternatively please call or email  to discuss your needs and receive information on these events within the parish.

Banns of Marriage

If you live in the Ministry Area or are planning to get married in a church you will need to have your Banns read three times in church, in the months leading up to the wedding. Please contact a member of the Clergy team, six months prior to your planned ceremony, to arrange this.
